San Guillermo: Isabela's Corn Producer

About a week ago, my job brought me to the northern part of the Philippines.  Isabela was the destination... I had two options in getting there.  By bus or by plane.  A 16-hour bus ride or a 1-hour plane... the latter though has a tendency to be delayed worst cancelled.

I took the latter though... to save time.  But, luck wasn't in my side during our departure... we were all on board the plane and about to take off when the plane experienced technical problems.  Some of the passengers got angry... others cursed.  I'd rather give thanks than curse... thanks that it experienced the problem before it took off.  What could've happened to us when it experienced the problem in flight?

Our 11:45 am departure was moved to 1:00 pm.  Not bad.  Though teh airline could've provided us with lunch.

Our flight did not take us straight to Isabela, we landed in Tuguegarao, Cagayan about 3 hours away from Santiago City, which I believe is Isabela's business center.

A photo of one of the Filipino farmer's best friend, the Carabao.
My trip to San Guillermo, an interior town of Isabela gave me another look of the countryside.  What my fellow Filipinos at the other side of the country are producing.  The things that keep them busy.

Philippines, is an agricultural country per se... and so is the province of Isabela.

One of the unpaved roads in San Guillermo leading to its interior villages.

The municipall hall of San Guillermo.
One of the young farmers.

A view of the San Guillermo's terrain.  Corn plants are in their flowering stage.
One of my favorite photos in the area.  A good look of the terrain planted with corn.

Snapshots of Cebu

Visit from Cebu wouldn't be complete without bringing home the infamous "danggit" and "pusit".
Magellan's Cross is a must visit place.  A part of Philippine history.
Erected by Navigator Ferdinand Magellan in 1521.
Located in Magallanes St., Cebu City.  Cebu's most important historical landmark and an important shrine.
A few steps from the Magellan's Cross shrine is the Basilica of the Child Jesus (Sto. NiƱo) which devotees flock specially in the month of January.
Another site to visit is the Taoist Temple.  Visitors are welcomed by this dragon.
Who would refuse this mouthwatering CNT Lechon.  Believed to be the best lechon in town.
